Our beloved and gorgeous mother, Irene (Cuca) Tambunga Gomez, wife of 63 years to our sweet dad, Pedro (Pete) Gomez, Sr. passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born January 24, 1943 in Ozona, Texas, to the late Fortunato Tambunga, Sr and Elena R. Tambunga.

Mom was very proud to become an LVN while her children were young and worked at numerous nursing homes for over 30 years.

Our family took tremendous joy in receiving repeated compliments on mom’s extraordinary beauty. Mom loved to dress up, dance, and sing. She also took pride in tending to her rose bushes that dad planted for her.

She loved her Catholic faith and was devoted to reading her Bible, and saying her daily rosary and Divine Mercy prayers. She was honored to be a member of Cursillistas and Guadalupanas.

Mom raised us to have strong faith in God. She prided herself in raising us to be independent, educated and most importantly never forgetting to love others as we wanted others to love us. She adored her grandkids and followed them in all their sports and activities. Those memories were priceless to her.

Mom is survived by her loving husband, Pedro Gomez, Sr. Her children: Gloria Abalos (Poly), Mary Villanueva (Henry), Judge Pete Gomez, Jr. (Patricia) and Janice Gomez Lira.
Along with her children, she is survived by her 19 grandkids and 5 great-grandkids. Her pallbearers will be her grandsons: Rick Villanueva, Josh Perez, Charles Lira, Troy Lira, Mike Abalos, Poly Abalos, Jr. and Jacob Mendoza.
Honorary pallbearers will be her remaining grandkids: Emily Gomez, Catherine Gomez, Valerie Villanueva, Victoria Lira, and Dakota Guerrero . Great-grandkids: Trey, Samuel and Eli Villanueva, Charli Abalos, Sophia and Trace Abalos, Atlas Lira and Reign Pedro Alston.

As well as her extended grandchildren Amanda Rubalcava, Stephen Phillips, Gina Mendoza, Cynthia Melendez, Sadie Melendez, Sophia Melendez. They all are our parents pride and joy.

She leaves behind her loving 7 siblings, Coy Tambunga (Edna), Mela Flores (Robert), Alejas Tambunga (Gloria), Ernest Tambunga (Isabelle), Sam Tambunga (Angelena),, Lupe Cervantez (Romaldo), Vicki Longoria (Rogeliio), as well as many nieces and nephews that adored her.

We were fortunate to have her caregiver Melva to care and love her.
A rosary was held both Saturday, October 23, 2021 and Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Kerbow Funeral Home in Ozona, Texas.

A mass of celebration was held on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Ozona, Texas.
