Dylan Ford, of Sonora, clinched the North Texas Junior PGA Championship this past June.

Ford won the trophy while competing in the SA Smith Junior Golf Invitational on June 24th and 25th.

The North Texas Junior PGA event was a two-day event with the first day of competition held at Green Tree Country Club in Midland. Day two of the event took place at the Odessa Country Club, in Odessa.

Ford finished Day 1 with a three-way tie for first place against competitors Reese Roberts, of Dallas, and Kelen Owensby, of Hobbs, New Mexico.

All three junior golfers shot a 1 over par 72.

Day 2 of the event was an eventful day filled with plenty of drama.

Ford was down by 2 strokes to Roberts going into the 18th and final hole.

He had to birdie the hole to have any kind of chance. Ford hit his second shot into 18 landing it less than a foot to the pin for an easy birdie.

His opponent made a bogey resulting in the outcome Ford had hoped for to finish in a first-place tie.

In a sudden death playoff, the pair set their sights on being first to sink a ball for the championship.

On the second playoff hole, Roberts drained his birdie putt putting all the pressure on Ford to do the same or go home empty handed.

The putt was about 15 feet long. Ford stepped up and drained the putt to push the playoff on to an exciting third hole.

It was at the fifth hole that Ford made par and Roberts made bogey advancing Ford to victory.

Congratulations to Dylan Ford and his continue success on the green.
