Sadly, the family of Weldon “Tracy” Crites wishes to inform you of his passing on May 24, 2022 at 7:07 AM at Shannon Hospital.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 27, 2022 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Sonora, Texas with officiant Pastor Matt Killough. Burial to follow at Sonora Cemetery.

Tracy was born in Bryan, Texas on October 25, 1936. He was the only child of W.O. and Vivian Crites.

Tracy was raised in Sonora and graduated from Sonora High School in 1955. Tracy then attended Texas Tech University, the University of Houston and the University of Colorado. After which he worked for Atlantic Richfield and ARCO. However, his heart was always in Sonora and he and his family returned in 1979.

His many endeavors included businesses that catered to the oil field. He built storage units as well as an RV park, flipped houses, and even tried his hand at ranching. He loved to buy and sell. Going to Trade Days, garage sales, or any excuse to meet and talk with people was the perfect day for him. He also loved and enjoyed his many friends who meant so much to him.

Tracy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sonora and baptized when he was 12 years old. He is preceded in death by his parents W.O. Crites and Vivian Carnes Crites.

He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Jeannene Hester Crites. Two daughters; Casey Crites Henderson and husband, Kenny of San Antonio, Carla Crites of Corpus Christi. One son; Tracy Crites and wife, Michelle of Midland. Five granddaughters; Kaitlyn Strom and husband, Davin of San Antonio, Hannah Henderson of San Antonio, Baylen Crites of Midland, Sayer Crites of Denton and Nyxi Crites of Corpus Christi. Three grandsons; Ross Crites of Midland, Ryder Crites and Dravyn Crites of Midland.

The family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff of Shannon Hospital for the loving care we received. We are so very grateful for the constant support we received from family and friends in Sonora.
