He was born on a farm in Lipscomb County, September 17, 1935, the fourth son of Tom and Lizzie Hill. J.T. graduated from Canadian High School in 1953, and what was West Texas State College in 1958, with a degree in physical education.

Ruth Turk Espy was born in Mansfield, OH on December 1, 1925 to Leo and Francis Turk. She grew up in Mansfield and attended school at St. Peter’s Schools until her graduation.
