Melvin C. Parker, Jr., age 63, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, August 17, 2017 following a brief and sudden illness.
Born March 26, 1954 and raised in Merkel, Texas, he is the son of Melvin Sr. and Ella Ruth Parker.
He was also a lifelong resident of Crockett and Sutton counties.
Melvin was larger than life and never met a stranger.
Known to everyone for his quick wit and long conversations you couldn’t help but want to sit down and have a chat with him.
Melvin was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge and took pride in being a free mason.
He was also a longtime member of the Ozona United Methodist Church.
He leaves his wife of 35 years, Laura (Gibbs) Parker, his daughter, Katie Parker, his daughter, Misty Sutton and husband Ben, his daughter, Jacqueline Parker-Boyd and husband Bob, five grandchildren and many close friends who were family.
A graveside funeral service was held August 20, 2017 at Sonora cemetery.
Arrangements were made with Love Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Clay Simon, Kelly Simon, Charles Conner, Ray Zuniga, Bubba Zuniga, William McAfee and Glen Tinney.
Honorary Pallbearers were Karl Haschke, Tom E. Valliant, Corky and Jimmie Sue Griffith, Steve Hudson, Toby Boatman, Jacob Boatman, Nathan Boatman and Ethan Boatman.
In lieu of flowers the family asked for donations to be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or a charity of your choice.
