SONORA, Texas — A joint law enforcement operation led by the Sutton County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Sonora Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigations, resulted in dozens of citations and multiple enforcement actions on Friday, March 21.
The coordinated effort focused on enhancing public safety and enforcing local, state and federal laws throughout Sutton County and the City of Sonora.
During the operation, officers issued 81 traffic citations and 76 warnings. Authorities also made one arrest for driving while intoxicated, one arrest for possession of marijuana, and conducted 16 immigration enforcement actions involving individuals engaged in criminal activity.
The Sutton County Sheriff’s Office said the operation reflects the strong partnerships among local, state and federal agencies and their shared commitment to protecting the community.
Law enforcement officials said similar operations will continue in the future and encouraged residents to report suspicious activity to their local agencies.
