Members of the Sutton County Commissioners Court met Monday, December 12, 2022 for their final meeting of the year. This meeting was also the last for Sutton County Judge Rachel Duran and Sutton County Commissioner Precinct 4 Fred Perez.
On the agenda was a request by the City of Sonora regarding an agreement they have with Loves Truck Stop. Mayor Juanita Gomez was present for the meeting with City Manger via phone. Jim Polonis asked if the city had tried to negotiate the $1.3 million that is owed Loves. Stating that the truck stop is doing very well and that possibly they might be willing to reduce the debt due to the profits that they are seeing.

The Sutton County Sheriff’s Office recently hosted “SORD,” Single Officer Rapid Deployment Active Shooter training. Multiple agencies attended the two-day training presented by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training, ALERRT, and Texas State University. Agencies included Sutton County Sheriff’s Office, TXDPS, Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens, Reagan County Sheriff’s Office, Tarrant County Constables, and Austin Police Department.
